C Reactive protein CRP
What the CRP blood test checks
The CRP blood test measures C-reactive protein, which can increase when inflammation is present. CRP is a non-specific marker, meaning it can rise for many reasons including infection, inflammatory conditions, injury or other health issues.
This test may be useful when inflammation is being reviewed alongside symptoms, medical history and other blood markers.

Important information
CRP does not identify the exact cause of inflammation by itself. Seek medical advice for severe pain, fever, chest pain, breathlessness, worsening symptoms or abnormal results.
